Hilla Havkin הילה חבקין Hilla Havkin’s career in illustration started when she returned to Israel after her training as an architect at the Politecnico di Milano. Since the early 1980s her large body of work has focused on: illustrating children’s books, editorial illustration and zoological and botanical scientific illustration. Since 2003 she has also been creating imagery for high quality stationery and greeting cards. To date, she has well over 140 books published with her illustrations by leading publishers in Israel, and has worked with many of the best-loved Israeli children’s book authors. Hilla’s unique style, the finely-honed precise and delicate watercolor technique are immediately recognizable. Hilla has a subtle sense of humor and is known for taking her characters from their familiar surroundings to unexpected situations and scenarios in a surprising but always cheerful and detailed style.
